Mr. Jack Hoke
Jack Hoke currently serves as Executive Director of the North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association. He retired in April, 2012 after serving twelve years as superintendent of the Alexander County Schools in Taylorsville, North Carolina. He also served as an associate superintendent for two years in the Alexander County Schools. He served as principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels in the Caldwell County Schools and served for 32 years in school administration.
He served as Superintendent Advisor to the North Carolina State Board of Education from 2009 – 2011 and was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Professional Teaching Standards Commission from 2006 – 2010. He was involved in the development of the teacher, principal and superintendent standards for North Carolina and assisted in the development of the North Carolina Education Evaluation System. His district in Alexander County, North Carolina was selected to pilot the teacher and principal evaluation systems and implemented both systems the first year.
As Executive Director of the North Carolina School Superintendents' Association he has conducted the following professional development programs for superintendents and associate/assistant superintendents: Next Generation Superintendent Development Program, Digital Leadership Institute for Superintendents, and Emerging Trends for NC School Districts.
He has received the following awards and recognition:
- Order of the Long Leaf Pine (2012)
- Northwest RESA Superintendent of the Year (2006 and 2011)
- NCASA Raymond Sarbaugh State Leadership Award (2010)
- North Carolina High School Athletic Association Superintendent of the Year (2007)
